Wk 8 – Artist Interview – Brian Davis

Brian Davis has one of the most unique exhibitions I have ever experienced at CSULB. At the Gatov West gallery, Brian set up a juicing exhibit. The show is something that is very different and very delicious.
He visited South Korea some years back and was struck by how different the culture was. The culture there stresses the importance of health and fruits and vegetables were incredibly cheap there. He realized the importance of organic food there and now revolves his whole life about it.
Brian mentioned that one day he hopes to create an artist hostel, possibly in Greece. He feels hostels create a sense of enrichment. You get to know others and their experiences and you get a sense of community. Juicing represents that; you take all these completely different ingredients and what you get when you mix them is something that enriches and boosts you.
